How to go LIVE
on TikTok.

A direct, current walkthrough for checking access, preparing your broadcast and starting with fewer avoidable problems.

The short answer

Open TikTok, tap the + create button, choose LIVE, add a clear title, review your settings and tap Go LIVE. TikTok currently says creators must be at least 18 and generally need 1,000 followers, although the follower requirement can vary by region. Features are not available everywhere.

Check whether your account has LIVE access

Update TikTok and look for LIVE in the creation screen. TikTok’s published eligibility information says you must be at least 18 to go LIVE and generally have 1,000 followers, with regional variation. Your account must also remain eligible under TikTok’s rules.

If the option is missing despite meeting the stated requirements, do not buy access from a stranger or share account credentials. Use TikTok’s in-app reporting route and include a concise description, screenshots and device details.

Prepare before you tap Go LIVE

  • Choose one clear topic or repeatable format.
  • Write a specific title that tells viewers what is happening now.
  • Charge your phone, stabilize it and use a reliable connection.
  • Place the main light in front of you, not behind you.
  • Test microphone distance and remove background noise.
  • Set comment filters and choose a trusted moderator when appropriate.

Start the broadcast

  1. Tap the create + button.
  2. Scroll to LIVE.
  3. Add a title and choose the available LIVE tools and safety settings.
  4. Check the frame, sound and background.
  5. Tap Go LIVE.

Begin speaking immediately. Explain what viewers can expect, greet people without reading every username, and ask an easy question that makes participation natural.

If LIVE is unavailable or stops working

Confirm your age information, app version, account standing and local availability. Restart the app and device, then test another stable network. If the problem remains, use Settings and privacy → Report a problem → LIVE. Only TikTok can decide account eligibility or reverse an enforcement action.

Build a useful first-week plan

Run several consistent sessions instead of judging the format from one attempt. Keep notes on start time, topic, duration, peak viewers, comments and moments that held attention. Review patterns after a week, then change one major variable at a time.
